They're on their way...

Since 2016, The Proclaimers have been patrons of The Smile of Arran Trust and this year we are delighted to bring them to the SMiLE stage.

A duo since 1983, their debut album "This is the Story" was awarded BPI Gold certification. Their second album "Sunshine on Leith", featuring the massive single "I'm gonna be (500 Miles)" achieved BPI Platinum, 2x Platinum in Australia and Canada and Gold in New Zealand and the US. Singles such as "I'm on my way" and "Sunshine on Leith" transformed their careers and made them the international icons that they are.

On top of their huge global success, the pair also soundtracked the 2013 musical film "Sunshine on Leith", a film consisting of 14 songs by them.

The Proclaimers are one of the UKs biggest and most iconic musicians who regularly perform live, and we are incredibly happy to be able to bring them to Sudbury!

It’s been 16 years since her first single “I wish I was a Punk Rocker” shot to number 1 in 7 different countries and since then, Thom has continued to make albums that are eclectic, different and timeless.

Having spent a significant time in the Middle East doing humanitarian work with street dogs and cats Sandi Thom has been off of the radar for several years. However, having now permanently relocated back to the UK Sandi is back and we are so pleased to welcome her to SMiLE Festival!

Singer-songwriter Will Varley has come a long way since his early days haunting the open mics of South London and busking around on The Underground. Following the release of his 2018 studio album ‘The Spirit of Minnie’, his UK tour drew to a close with a triumphant show at London's legendary Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Will has toured relentlessly across Europe and America as support act for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner, Valerie June and The Proclaimers and he's sold out his own headline shows in cities as far afield as Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam and Vienna.

Will also played our very first SMiLE back in 2017, and after his amazing performance, we just had to get him back!

Frettlyst are a five-piece indie rock band from Kettering, UK. They started life as an acoustic duo, with Brett Revell on guitar and Laurence Holt providing vocals. Drummer Tommy Cornwell, rhythm guitarist Dan Doyle and bassist Steve Wojdylewicz joined over the next few years, forming the now-iconic group. Frettlyst's style draws from classic rock as well as modern indie sounds, with influences from legends like Jimi Hendrix and Oasis, along with Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Smiths. Strong vocals and big, foot-stomping riffs characterise their sound, with hooks so catchy you'll be singing along long after the song is over.
